GM's Desk: Shane Battier Acquired by Celtics

Despite some tremendous performances last season, Josh Howard's underwhelming performances thus far have caused Boston's front office to sour on the well-balanced forward.

Despite a contentious Eastern Conference Finals with Boston, the Miami Heat agreed to trade sixth man Shane Battier in exchange for Josh Howard, as the former is best known for his defense while also being an efficient sharpshooter.

Instead of guarding Paul Pierce, Battier will now be coming off the Celtics bench to support the struggling star forward and quite possibly guarding LeBron James later this year if these two teams meet again in the Playoffs.

The swap also included Ben Wallace (who has seen little playing time so far in Boston along with Hibbert & KG) for ex-Celtic, Marquis Daniels.
